How it works

Advisory process

Providing mortgage advice is about more than just helping the customer choose the mortgage with the lowest interest rate; the purpose of the advisory process is to determine what mortgage best suits your needs and future plans. We also discuss with you what would happen in the event of death or work disability. A current mortgage can also play a key role in the advisory process.
It may be attractive from a financial perspective to transfer this mortgage to your new home, although in other circumstances it may actually be advisable to cancel the mortgage. Once you have indicated what mortgage type and fixed-interest period you prefer and you have sold your home, we can request a mortgage quote from a number of different banks.

Application process

Our job is to provide you with information on the mortgages offered by various banks and the conditions imposed, and the application process begins as soon as you have made your choice.
The first step is usually to collect the appropriate documents, and Finsens is your point of contact throughout this process, which means you benefit from direct lines of communication and ease of access. If the life insurance risk is hedged and this is in fact required by the bank in question, it is vital that the application process is started in time.
Once all the documents have been collected and approved by the bank, the next step is to go to the
civil-law notary to sign the mortgage deed and the deed of transfer. As soon as you have signed these documents, you will be a homeowner and a mortgage holder.

Process after you have obtained your mortgage

Mortgages require maintenance, and the advisers at Finsens can help you to make the right decision in the event of the following:

  • divorce or separation (financial settlement);
  • expiry of a fixed-interest period (what interest rate);
  • the interest rate is falling sharply (is transfer advisable?)
  • changes in your income and/or capital (is repayment advisable?).

We will be pleased to help you to maintain your mortgage. The advisers at Finsens are already involved, and it is very likely that you will be discussing your maintenance issues with the same adviser who helped you with your mortgage.
